Indian Race Wagering

On-course and off-course betting is allowed in India. There are a number of racetracks located throughout the country. Five tracks are members of the Turf Authorities of India, but each track is independent due to the different betting tax laws in their local jurisdictions.

Betting is permitted at a tote window as well as with the bookmakers operating at the racecourses.

All centers conduct off-course or inter-track wagering on races run at other centers, mainly with live TV coverage at the receiving course. There is no legal telephone betting, smart card wagering or internet betting.
